Football for everyone, regardless of ability.
A grassroots football club built on community, teamwork and passion.
Derwent FC is a grassroots football club based in the Derwent ward of Chaddesden. Founded in 2004, the club began with just two teams: a senior team and an under-15s team.
Since then, Derwent FC has continued to expand and progress, adding new teams across different age groups. Today, the club runs teams from under-8s through to an adult men’s First Team, alongside two all-girls teams. Our teams are managed and coached by local volunteers, many of whom have gained FA coaching qualifications through the club.
There has been plenty of success on the pitch over the years, with teams winning trophies across a range of age groups. Some of our most important achievements, however, have taken place off the pitch.
Derwent FC has supported more than 20 volunteers in gaining their FA coaching badges, helping them go on to manage and coach our teams. We are also proud to have female coaches involved in the club, and hope this encourages more women and girls to take part in football, both on and off the pitch.
Our dedicated volunteers have raised vital funds through fundraising auctions, bag packing at Morrisons and Asda, sponsored runs and walks, fashion shows, and nights out at the Greyhound track. These events have helped us buy equipment, pay league fees and keep costs as low as possible for our players.
Fundraising and sponsorship are vital to Derwent FC’s success. Our core philosophy is to keep membership fees to a minimum so that football remains accessible to everyone in our community.
